The Benefits
of Therapy
Adolescence is a formative phase marked by intricate emotional and psychological development. Therapy provides a safe haven for them to voice concerns, process emotions, and develop coping mechanisms.
Professional guidance equips them with essential life skills, fostering resilience and self-awareness. Early intervention through therapy can promote healthier relationships, improved self-esteem, and better mental health outcomes.
"Therapy at Sunlight Care promotes resilience and
emotional well-being in the young people there."
Sunlight Care therapeutic services provide help and support for children and young people who have experienced difficult times through early trauma abuse and separations by facilitating a full range of assessment and interventions.
As specialists in attachment, Sunlight Care Therapy aims to equip children and young people to form and maintain meaningful reciprocal relationships to understand their past, live in the present and look forward to their future.
With ongoing adaptation, our service caters to children and young people, offering personalised interventions that seamlessly align with their dynamic and evolving needs, promoting their well-being and future positive change.
Meeting the mental health needs of young people in the care system continues to be a prominent driver of government policy and practice guidance. Sunlight Care will work collaboratively with local CAMHs services and other specialist teams to help those young people who are struggling with mental health issues.
This will be written into the care plans for them and they will have full encouragement from staff to gain the help needed to gain recovery for their mental health, we will be promoting at all times a range of treatment options for them which they have the right to access while at Stenson Lodge.
At Sunlight Care we believe it is essential to undertake an assessment at referral, intake and at strategic points during the placement. The initial assessment will incorporate key domains of the young person’s function and development needs including educational, emotional/behavioural, social and learning skills.
The findings from the initial assessment period play a pivotal role in shaping various aspects such as the placement plan, treatment objectives, educational requirements, and most importantly, in establishing the parameters for anticipated outcomes.
Childhood & adolescence is characterised by development and change; placement plans must reflect and accommodate these changes in the light all information available and with access and support from staff from external agencies like CAMHS to support Children on a 1-1 basis when needed.
At Sunlight Care, we take great pride in our dedicated team of trained staff and therapists who are passionately committed to assisting children on their transformative journeys. Through a comprehensive approach that integrates life coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and recovery coaching, we aim to provide multifaceted support.
Valuing each child’s uniqueness, we assess their needs meticulously and create specialised plans. From ADHD to anxiety, our interventions target emotional and behavioural challenges, empowering children to navigate life successfully.
